About Us

Mission

The University of Michigan has a legacy of tackling critical health issues through research and action. The Center for Global Health builds on this tradition by generating novel approaches and partnerships that improve health and redress pressing health inequalities. Through its research, training, and service activities the Center is centrally concerned with work that aims to promote global health equity.

Vision

The Center aims to embrace multi-directional collaborations, leveraging the strength and expertise of its members and partners to find and implement sustainable solutions that improve health and redress health inequalities. Our international engagements are informed by a principle of valuing the wisdom and expertise of others. We aim to produce new knowledge that serves society, and to build collective capacity.

Strategic Objectives

The Center has four strategic objectives:

  1. Catalyze campus and national discussion on the evidence base for improving global health
  2. Promote innovative and interdisciplinary global health research and action
  3. Nurture and develop new scientists focused on global health research and action
  4. Build capacity for research for health in the global south
